JMP Overview
JMP is a statistical discovery software, a SAS product that performs simple and complex analysis. It dynamically links statistics with graphics to interactively explore, understand, and visualize data. VCU faculty, staff and students may obtain a personal copy or use JMP on the App2Go Server.
JMP License Information
VCU has obtained a JMP site license from SAS which permits both on campus and home use by current VCU faculty, staff and students. In addition, five (5) concurrent use licenses of JMP available for use by VCU reseachers on the App2Go Server. Funding for this site license has been provided by the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health and by Technology Services.
Obtain a Personal Copy of JMP
- Download JMP
- CD Exchange
To obtain a pre-copied JMP 8.0.1 for Windows installation CD:- Bring a blank CD-R disk (16X speed or higher, no CD-RWs or DVDs) to exchange for the installation CD.
- Technology Services Help Desk pick-up locations:
- If no pre-copied stock is on hand at the time of your request, you can leave your contact information, and you will be advised when you can return with the blank CD-R disk to pickup the pre-copied JMP 8.0.1 installation CD.
Use JMP on the App2Go Server
Using a Windows, Mac or Linux computer, you are able to access JMP via a browser window. Although JMP runs on the App2Go Server, it appears to be running on your PC. You can open, save and print files from your PC. Applications on the App2Go server are available to support research projects and are not intended for instructional use.
Current VCU faculty, staff and students may request an App2Go account to access JMP on the App2Go Server for research. Documentation on how to use of the App2Go Server will provide you details such as system requirements, installation, opening files, saving files and printing.
JMP Patches & Updates
JMP 8.0.1 for Windows patch (may use for JMP 8.0 Windows installs):
- Download the JMP 8.0.1 for Windows Patch to your desktop.
- Double click on JMP_801_AL_Updater.exe on your desktop.
- WinZip: In WinZip Self Extractor windows select the Unzip button.
When the message " 35 files(s) unzipped successfully" appears, select the OK button.- Windows Explorer: In Windows Explorer double click on C:\jmp_801_al_updater\setup.exe .
Follow on screen prompts to install the JMP 8.0.1 for Windows patch- After a successful launch of JMP 8, delete:
- JMP_801_AL_Updater.exe on your desktop
- C:\jmp_801_al_updater folder
Renew a JMP License

JMP licenses expire annually on January 30th and must be renewed for JMP to continue to run on your computer.
