X-Win32

Software Description: StarNet's X-Win32 is X-Windows software used to connect Windows PCs to remote Unix and/or Linux host systems. X-Win32 is available through a site license agreement with StarNet Communications.

Cost: No charge for current VCU faculty, staff and students

X-Win32 Requirements

X-Win32 is not recommended for off campus use unless:

  • You have a cable or FiOS Internet service
  • You are accessing VCU
  • The VCU computer being connected to is not blocked for X-Windows 
     

Installation Media

Download, install and configure X-Win32 Upon successful authentication with your VCU eID to verify your University affiliation, you will prompted to download X-Win32. Installation and licensing instructions will be emailed to your VCU e-mail account.

License

The license permits current VCU  faculty, staff and students to install X-Win32 for University teaching, research or administrative use. The license agreement prohibits distribution of copies to anyone else for any other purpose.
