West Hospital Scheduled Telephone Outages (#3413)

Date Changed from February 3 to Monday, February 8

All telephone services in West Hospital are currently provided from equipment in A.D. Williams. Services must be moved to prepare for the demolition of that building next year.  The move is planned to begin on Monday, February 8 and is anticipated to take approximately 4 weeks to fully complete.

Each night, a certain number of telephones will be moved between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. These sets will be out of service during that time period. Given the age of the equipment it is not possible to identify which telephones will be affected on a given night. However, all sets should be functioning by 6:00 AM the following morning.

If your service is not restored by that time please call 828-2227 (press option 2).

Affect on Avaya Telephone User's

During the outage voice mail services will continue to function. Calls placed to stations or option menus will be routed to voice mail as usual. Sets will be restored to normal functioning after 6:00 AM the following morning.

If your service is not restored by that time please call 828-2227 (press option 2).

Affect on ISDN/Centrex Telephone Users

The relocation is a 2- step process;

Step 1-Initial downtime while equipment is relocated as discussed above

Step 2- Reprogramming the telephone number at the new location.

Service provisioning is done by Verizon and may take up to 3 business days. Each station will be assigned a temporary telephone number that will go into effect at 6:00 AM after the initial outage. This will minimize the down time users would otherwise experience and will not require any action on your part.

    • Callers will still dial your permanent telephone number. Calls will be automatically forward to your temporary number and ring your telephone as usual.
    • Unanswered calls will forward to your existing mailbox (if provisioned).
    • Caller ID for outbound calls will show the temporary number during this time but otherwise will function normally.
  • A technician will be on site to reprogram ISDN phones and address any issues the day after conversion.
  • A second, shorter service outage will occur after approximately 3 days when the service provisioning is complete. The permanent number will be restored and service will return to normal.
  • A technician will be on site after this secondary outage to address any issues.

    NOTE
The morning after your secondary outage if your set display reads "VERIFY SPID", "SPID ERROR", "SPID NG" or if the LCD is blank please follow this link to reinitialize your set
