Avaya Telephones

VCU and the Medical College of Virginia have standardized on the Avaya platform wherever possible. While older legacy sets are still being used in some locations that cannot yet support the ephones, only the Avaya sets will be installed in the majority of locations.
VoIP or Digital?
4600 Series sets = VoIP
- Use VCU's data network.
- Plug directly into the VCU data jack. VoIP sets
- Can be moved to another location by the user without a work order. (How?)
2400 Series sets = Digital
- Use the traditional telephone jacks.
- Require a work order to move to a different location.
The set type is on the phone under the handset.

ISDN Telephones

If your office is one of the buildings that does not currently support the Avaya ePhones you can select one of the ISDN telephones supported on campus.

Cell Phones

- Cell phones are available to faculty and staff for business purposes only under a mandatory state contract. Please fill out a VCUnet Service Request Form to start or change cellular service.

Pagers

Pagers on the VCU Campus are provided through a state contract with Metrocall. Orders for new Metrocall pagers will be processed and billed through VCU Telecommunications.
To order a new pager, click on the link below. Enter your eID and password. When the selection list appears, choose Voice Service Request.Please allow 5-7 business days to process each order.
If your area has experienced problems with reliable paging services from Metrocall, please contact Fred Delboy in VCU's Purchasing Department at 8-1077 ext. 111 for guidance.
VCU Telecommunications does not offer pagers or paging services for students or personal use at this time.
VCU Health SystemVCUHS has established a separate contract for paging services. If your department utilizes VCUHS funding, you may access this contract by contacting Telepage at 828-0951.
