Make a Course "Available/Unavailable" for Student View (#1147)

Creating a course in Blackboard does not make it immediately available for student viewing. The Blackboard default setting is "Not Available," which limits the view only to the instructor. This feature allows the instructor to develop the course prior to making it available to students.

To make course available or unavailable:

Step 1 - Login to Blackboard and open the course you wish to make available.

Step 2 - Open the course Control Panel.

Step 3 - Go to Course Options and select Settings.

Step 4 - Select Course Availability to open the availability options.

Step 5 - Set the desired option and click Submit.

Course availability refers to student access to the course. The instructor will always see a link to an existing course. Students will not see the course on their course list until you make it available.

Note: Blackboard also allows you to make specific course content available, or not, in the specific area where the content is added.
