Google and myVCUmail
What is Google Apps at VCU?
Google Apps at VCU provides a VCU gateway to Google’s online services. This allows you to take advantage of Google’s e-mail, productivity, and collaboration tools while maintaining your "eID"@vcu.edu e-mail address. myVCUmail is VCU's implementation of Gmail for VCU student e-mail. Your VCU student e-mail is now powered by Google's easy to use Gmail service.
When can I begin using myVCUmail for my e-mail?
This summer all new students were introduced to myVCUmail. This is VCU's new e-mail service powered by Google. myVCUmail allows students to take advantage of Google's e-mail, productivity, and collaboration tools while maintaining their "eID"@vcu.edu e-mail address. Existing students were moved from the VCU Mail Anywhere system to myVCUmail beginning September 7, 2009.
Student workers and graduate assistants were notified and moved to myVCUmail on September 16, 2009. Student e-mail data on VCU Mail Student e-mail data on VCU Mail Anywhere will be available until June 30, 2010.
Please contact the VCU Technology Services Help Desk (828-2227, help@vcu.edu) with any questions.
How does it work?
You will use your VCU eID password to log into Google's web-based applications through the VCU Central Authentication System. Once you have logged in you will be able to select which of Google's services you wish to use.
What do I do now?
If you have not received a myVCUmail e-mail migration notice then you will continue to access your e-mail via Lotus Notes or VCU Mail Anywhere. If you use the Notes client, IMAP, or Mail Anywhere, you will continue to access your e-mail as you always have. Faculty and staff will remain with the Lotus Notes service.
