LANDesk

The LANDesk® Managment Suite (LANDesk®) provides the tools needed to effectively manage and protect Windows, Macintosh, and Linux network systems. The LANDesk® Management Suite is comprised of several functional modules that work in concert to provide industry-leading system management capabilities, advanced user support, and robust security monitoring and remediation functionality.

The LANDesk® enhanced Security and Patch Manager enables scanning of managed devices for many prevalent types of security risks and exposures, while the Remote Control tool allows support personnel to provide assistance to end users and diagnose and resolve system problems without costly on-site visits. Software Distribution and Software License Monitoring provide the tools necessary to install, maintain, and monitor applications in the environment. Operating System Deployment ("Imaging") allows technical managers to capture, distribute, and maintain standardized system configurations throughout their department while the Provisioning tools add the capability to rapidly configure and deploy systems and applications independent of hardware differences across groups of computers.

The LANDesk® Management Gateway is available exclusively with LANDesk® Management Suite and gives users the ability to securely manage systems over an encrypted internet connection. The Management Gateway provides systems outside the perimeter firewall and at geographically distributed sites the ability to connect with the central LANDesk® environment and report inventory and vulnerability assessments and obtain security and software updates.  LANDesk® On-Demand Remote Control provides an encrypted, SSL-based method for IT support to remote control systems that do not have LANDesk® agents installed or are not connected to a VCU-controlled network.

LANDesk®  is being used by 14 departments at VCU, with a total of 120+ users and 4,000+ managed machines.  LANDesk® is currently protecting systems against 2,000+ security risks and over 14,000 spyware and malware threats.  Plus, LANDesk® is the only centrally-managed solution that meets and exceeds the VCU Security Standards for Classroom, Computer Lab, and Public computer administration.
