Dreamweaver
What you will need- Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (although the procedure is very similar for Dreamweaver 3 and 4
- You need access to modify your pages (Get an Account).
After installation, you will need to set up the connection
with the server.
(You can also set up a connection using SSH)
- Start Dreamweaver in your usual manner.
- Click on the Site pull-down menu selection and select Define Site or New Site
- Click New to define a site for the VCU Web Server
- With Dreamweaver MX, at the top of the Site screen, change your view to Advanced if this is not already the case.
- Give your site a meaningful Site Name
- In the Local Information pane, fill in the appropriate data. This page assumes you already know how to do this
- Click on on the Remote Info category in the left pane which will bring you to a new pane on the right.
- Pull down the Access menu and select FTP
- If your site follows the naming convention of
http://www.dept.vcu.edu follow
this example:

- If your site follows the naming convention of
http://www.vcu.edu/dept follow
this example:

- Open Dreamweaver
- Click on the Site pull-down menu and select your site from the Open Site drop-down list
- Click on the Connect icon or click on on the Site pull-down menu and select Connect
- When you are finished with Dreamweaver, click on the Disconnect icon or click on the Site pull-down menu and select Disconnect
- Close Dreamweaver
