How to set up a site in Dreamweaver

  1. Select Sites >> Manage Sites from the top menu bar.
  2. Select the New Button

  3. Choose Site from the menu that appears

  4. Fill in the fields

     
    Site Name: A short description to help you identify the site in Dreamweaver.
    Local root folder: Create a folder on your hard drive to hold a copy of the site.
    Default images folder: This is optional.
    HTTP address: The web URL of your site.

  5. Select Remote Info from the menu on the left side of the window.
  6. Select FTP from the Access drop down box.

  7. Fill in the text boxes according to your site. Use this chart to help you decide what you should enter.

    www.vcu.edu
    Ramsites
    Student Org
    Video
    FTP Host www.people.vcu.edu www.vcu.edu ramsites.net www.studentorg.vcu.edu video.vcu.edu
    Host directory public_html/ You will be given this path when your site is created. (email if you don't know it) public_html/ public_html/ blank
    User ID web server userID web server userID web server userID web server userID web server userID
    Password web server account password web server account password web server account password web server account password web server account password

    Note: Be sure to check the Use Secure FTP (SFTP) box.

  8. Test your connection.
  9. Click OK to complete the setup process.
