SigmaPlot at VCU
VCU has obtained a 5 simultaneous user Windows network license for SigmaPlot
from SYSTAT.
SigmaPlot obtained under this VCU network license may only be used:
- On the VCU campus network
(Must be a wired connection - wireless access to map drives is not supported) - On university owned or leased Windows PCs
- By current VCU faculty, staff, and students
- For teaching and research purposes
- On the Windows platform
- SigmaPlot is also available to VCU researchers on the App2Go Citrix Server.
What is SigmaPlot?
SigmaPlot is a technical graphing and data analysis software package that enables researchers to convert their data into precise, publication ready graphs.

System RequirementsNote: The current release of SigmaPlot is NOT supported under Microsoft VISTA.
SigmaPlot obtained under the VCU site license can be used:
1. On the App2Go Citrix Server for researchers:VCU researchers can access SigmaPlot via the App2Go Citrix Server.
When you use SigmaPlot on the App2Go server, it appears to be running on your PC. You can open and save files on your PC and print on your PC.2. By downloading SigmaPlot and installing it on your PC:
Register and obtain login/password to access SigmaPlot for Windows on the VCU network
Installation Instructions:
To install SigmaPlot, a network drive must be mapped to the SigmaPlot server: \\maps.vcu.edu\sigmaplot. Access to the SigmaPlot server requires a login and password. After logging into the SigmaPlot server, the SigmaPlot client can then be installed across the campus network onto your PC. When you register SigmaPlot, an e-mail message will be sent to your VCU e-mail account with:
- Network login and password to access SigmaPlot at \\maps.vcu.edu\sigmaplot
- Instructions to map a network drive to \\maps.vcu.edu\sigmaplot
- Instructions to install the SigmaPlot client onto your PC on the campus network.
Running the SigmaPlot client:
To run SigmaPlot after the client is installed:
- Select Start, Programs, SigmaPlot 9.0.
- When prompted enter the network login and password sent to your VCU e-mail account when you registered your license.
- If you get an "Open File - Security Warning " popup that "The publisher could not be verified" for name: Spw.exe, select the Run button.
VCU has a 5 simultaneous user license for SigmaPlot. Since multiple users at VCU will be sharing these licenses, please shutdown SigmaPlot when you are not using it. The 5 concurrent use licenses are controlled by the VCU SigmaPlot License Manager. If you are attempting to startup SigmaPlot and are unable to do so, report this to Technology Services HelpDesk at 828-2227.
Restrictions
SigmaPlot software obtained and/or used under this license:
- May only be used by current VCU faculty, staff and students
- May only be used on campus
- Is exclusively for academic/research use
- May not be used for commercial gain
- May not be modified
- May only be shared with others at VCU who register a license
- Must be uninstalled when you are no longer affiliated with VCU

In some departments technical support staff register a block of licenses. If users whose licenses are registered by their technical support staff wish to receive listserv notifications for this product they should subscribe to the VCU SigmaPlot-Stat-L LISTSERV.
