SQL Server Database Services

Current Services: VCUCC provides SQL Server DBA support to Technology Services and other Administrative units with SQL Server database servers.  We currently maintain two SQL Servers, one for test and development purposes and one for production databases.  Services offered include backup and recovery, performance tuning and monitoring, and data transformation service (DTS) creation and maintenance.  We currently backup all SQL Server databases locally to disk and to tape using TSM.  Transaction log backups are arranged on a case by case basis, depending on the needs of the customer and the application.  We also have experience setting up and maintaining replication between multiple SQL Servers, should that level of redundancy be required.

Future Plans: VCUCC is in the process of setting up two additional SQL Servers for the MCV Hospital.  These two new servers will be behind the MCV firewall and will handle applications that hold clinical data.
