Operations Services

The VCU Computer Center is staffed 24 hours/day 365 days a year with trained operators who have the responsibility to manage all production operations. The majority of there work is managed through our job scheduling software, ESP from Cybermation. Through a GUI interface, the operators can monitor and react to messages established by the various production jobs. The ESP software has agents for Windows, Linux, AIX, Sun Solaris, and several other platforms. All of these systems can be managed from one operator workstation.

The operations staff have also interfaced with technical staff from various groups who occasionally need someone at the Computer Center to interact directly with the equipment they support.
