Cell phones

Cell phones are available to faculty and staff for business purposes only under a mandatory state contract. Please fill out a VCUnet Service Request Form to start or change cellular service.

Section 6.10 of the VCU Financial and Budget Administration Policies and Procedures manual requires departments to obtain written authorization from the area Vice President (www.vcu.edu/procurement/chap_6a.pdf). Written authorization must be maintained by the customer department for audit purposes. You may download a sample authorization form here. 

State law requires that all telecommunications services be obtained through Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) contracts. VCUnet is the official point of contact for accessing VITA contracts. Departments may not procure any telecommunication services directly with vendors unless they have a written waiver from VITA and VCUnet. This restriction includes cell phones and pagers. VCUnet does not offer a cellular plan for students or private use at this time.
