Distance Learning Resources at VCU
The industry's most widely deployed teaching and learning environment, the Blackboard Learning System
features a robust environment for content management and sharing, online assessments, student tracking,
assignment and portfolio management, and virtual collaboration.
Computer Based Instructional Lab
The Computer Based Instructional Lab uses distance learning to practice telemedicine.
This allows for live, interactive videoconferences (two-way video) across the country for
clinical consultations, just-in-time training, continuing education, and distance learning
applications.
Traditional distribution of televised course material is provided by Media
Support Services via "up-link"
facilities on both campuses. These provide for satellite distribution of
programs and classes utilizing the standard NTSC video format. The Instructional
Development Center also provides support in design of these presentations.
Welcome to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine PDA Medicine site.
Use this website to stay abreast of PDA usage in the School of Medicine as well to find useful software,
information on PDA hardware, and resources for software development. This site will also be the only
distribution point for PDA software developed by the Office of Faculty and Instructional Development.
VCU offers training for student, faculty, and staff members in an online, self
paced environment.
The VCU Libraries support distance education by providing access to both library
databases and
services from remote
locations.
They also provide
Distance Education Resources for students.
The VCU Libraries are also a part of the
Virtual Library of Virginia.
