Definition
“Distance education at Virginia Commonwealth University constitutes a planned process for the delivery
of education and training, whereby both instructor and student are separated by either a physical distance
and/or by time.”
Note: the term distance education, in this context, does not refer to off campus courses taught in person by a member of the VCU faculty; nor does it refer to traditional courses supplemented by online materials.
Many instructors are now making their courses using Blackboard or providing access to course materials via the World Wide Web.
VCU Libraries supports distance education by providing access to distance education services from remote locations.
