Getting an IP address automatically on Campus via DHCP (Dynamic Host Config Protocol) for a MAC
Configuring TCP/IP
- Pull down the Apple menu, choose Control Panels and select TCP/IP.
- On the top menu bar click on Edit, select User Mode, and change it to Advanced mode.
- Pull down the Connect Via menu and select Ethernet.
- Pull down the Configure Using menu and select Using DHCP Server.
- Make sure that the Use 802.3 is NOT checked.
- Click on the Options button on the bottom right corner.
- In the TCP/IP Options window, ensure that under Make TCP/IP, Active is checked and Load only when needed is checked. Click the OK button to go back to the main TCP/IP window. Close the window and save any changes.
Connecting to the Network/Internet
- Once the required settings have been saved and your computer has been restarted, your Mac will automatically request network information from the DHCP server. You can now begin using the Internet by starting your browser and e-mail program.
