VCU Accounts after you leave VCU
Normal Account Suspension
After you leave VCU your Technology Services computer accounts will be removed.
Faculty, Staff, non-employee and Student accounts remain active until Human Resources (HR)
or Student Information System (SIS) removes your name from their database. Students remain in the
SIS database if enrolled in a previous, current or upcoming semester.
A suspend warning will be sent to you two weeks after you drop out of database stating you have two
weeks to get back into the database or all the accounts pertaining to you will be locked. This allows
time to delete or move the files, programs or e-mail messages from those accounts.
Faculty, Staff, Non-employees and Hospital, are dropped from HR as soon as the department enters a
termination date.
Students are dropped when they are not registered in a previous, current or next semester.
Assuming summer is the current semester, if you took classes in the spring, skipped the summer
but registered for the fall, you are still in the database. Also if you graduate in the spring
semester and it is now the summer semester, your account will only be available until the start
of the fall semester.
