Web Content Management
OpenText Management Server (also known as RedDot CMS) is VCU's official web content management system.
The purpose of the Web CMS is to:
- allow non-technical users to easily update website content
- allow users to update content online from any computer with an internet connection
- provide global non-editable areas in templates (such as headers and footers) that remain consistent as new pages are added throughout the website
- organize images and files (e.g. pdf documents) in a CMS Asset Manager(s)
- archive and version old pages for easy restoration
- allow administrator to establish workflow production, person A can edit, then send to person B to approve and publish
- allow administrator to set permissions so that editors can only update their section's content
